The Whitby Chamber of Commerce (WCC) and its Young Entrepreneurs and Professionals Committee have partnered with Feed the Need in Durham (FTND) to host a COVID-19 safe drive-through food drive on Saturday, June 26th sponsored by Meridian Credit Union. Members of the WCC and Durham community are invited to bring their donations to the parking lot behind the WCC office between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
In addition, Mayor Don Mitchell will be roaming the downtown streets with a shopping cart asking local businesses and bystanders to fill the cart with donations.
Recommended items to donate are non-perishable foods such as canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, jam, hot or cold cereal, canned tuna, pasta sauce, granola bars, juice boxes, and any other sealed food. In addition to food items, FTND all accepts donations related to hygiene such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner, razors, feminine hygiene products, and deodorant. Items that have reached their expiry cannot be accepted.
