Hunger in our community is on the rise. The number of undernourished people is growing primarily because of the cost of rising food prices, rising rent, conflict, and the COVID-19 pandemic. As September is Hunger Action Month in Durham, let’s take a moment to rethink our thoughts and actions about the health and well-being of our fellow Durham residents who face food insecurity.
As we aim to spread awareness, we seek everyone’s help to spread our message that hunger is unacceptable in our community. Therefore, we encourage you to join us by donating, volunteering and advocating the elimination of hunger in our community. #fighthungertoday
How can you help? Make a donation or host a local food drive! Check out Our Wish List here!
“What Feed the Need does is ‘priceless’. I am so happy to be a part of the team’s hard work. Thank you!! I believe FTND is addressing the ‘silent suffering of those facing hunger’. As hard as many of us try, our lives can change in a moment. I believe that people were meant to be together because we function better as a herd than on our own.”
Diane Marven, FTND monthly hero and volunteer
“I have been so fortunate in my adult life. Having come from extreme poverty to where I am today is in itself amazing. I have a deep need to give back for all those times I was given to and Feed the Need in Durham has given me the opportunity to do this.”
“Don’t compromise yourself, you are all you’ve got” Janis Joplin

“Feed the Need is such an impressive organization. Happy to support it as I’m able.”
