Celebrate Ramadan

Support Feed the Need in Durham

The Give 30 Movement is all about caring for our neighbours and fighting hunger together during the month of Ramadan. The concept of the campaign is simple: everyone, regardless of faith, gives to the Give 30 Campaign Food Banks during Ramadan. Give 30 was created in 2012, by Toronto lawyer and activist Ziyaad Mia. Since then it has grown into a grassroots movement supporting food banks in communities across Canada, the United States and Australia.

this summer

Donate here to help stock the shelves this summer!

On June 1, 2019, Feed the Need in Durham, with the support of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, the Clarington Board of Trade, and the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, will launch the 5th Durham Region Business Food Drive Challenge, with the goal of raising 30,000 meals for those who face hunger in our community this summer.

Running from June 1 – June 30, the Durham Region Business Food Drive challenges local businesses with help from staff, clients, and the community, to donate food and funds to stock up the shelves to help Feed the Need in Durham and its network of 62 organizations support those who face hunger in our community.

How can YOU help fight hunger in Durham Region this summer?

Donate funds – funds raised under this initiative will help us purchase, in bulk, the most needed food items missing on our shelves

Donate food -register your business to host a fund/food drive or drop-off food donations at one of our 20 public drop donations across the community or the FTND warehouse

Share on Social Media – help us get the word out!

Feed the Need in Durham provides perishable as well as non-perishable food to emergency food providers. Grocery chains make their excess food available to us at distribution centres, enabling us to help marginalized people in Durham benefit from eating a variety of healthy and nourishing foods including fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and milk.

If you would like to join us in the fight against hunger, please consider donating food, making a monetary donation, or volunteering your time.
