Feed the Need in Durham is a food hub in Oshawa that distributes food to approximately 50 organizations including food banks, shelters and soup kitchens in Durham Region.
“Our belief is that hunger should not be the reason to prevent anyone from the chance to fulfill their potential”
Each year, Feed the Need in Durham makes a real difference in the lives of over 30,000 low income people who do not have enough to eat. 38% are children. We provide fresh, nutritious food and non-perishable products to approximately 50 member agencies – emergency food providers (food banks, food pantries, meal programs, soup kitchens and shelters) throughout Durham Region. We currently distribute over 120,000 pounds of food each month to our member agencies.
Feed the Need in Durham provides perishable as well as non-perishable food. Grocery chains make their excess food available to us at distribution centres enabling us to help marginalized people in Durham benefit from eating a variety of healthy and nourishing foods including fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and milk.
If you would like to join us in the fight against hunger, please consider donating food, making a monetary donation, or volunteering your time.
